FSSAI license renewal: don't let it lapse

If you run a food business, your FSSAI license is your permission to operate — and it expires.
The three tiers - Basic registration — turnover up to ₹12 lakh - State license — ₹12 lakh to ₹20 crore - Central license — above ₹20 crore or special categories
Why renewal timing matters Renewal must be filed before the license expires. Filing late means penalties, and operating on an expired license can mean stopping business entirely until a fresh license is issued.
